In late 1978 EMI put the band in De Lane Lea  music studios in Wembley to record six songs  under the supervision of Ronnie Beck an  executive of Feldman/Trident Music.

The band was allocated 'free-time' (meaning  that they could only use the studio when no  established artiste required it)

As studio time was so precious the six  songs- Spider's Web, Money Grabber,  Necrophiliac, The Hooker,  Blue  Smoke/Two Stroke and Old Time Movie Star  were recorded 'live'.

Feldman/Trident Music were also the  publishers of Queen.

Queen I was recorded here along with most of  the demos for Queen II and later in 1980 the  soundtrack to 'Flash Gordon'

The band were obviously very excited at being  in the same studios where so many of EMI's  top artists recorded!

It is not known who has the original 'master  recording' of these six early songs but in  recent years an old tape copy was found and  thanks to ReaperMusic UK they were put to  video  as shown and made available on youtube  albeit of poor sound quality.

For the first few months the relationship  between Ronnie Beck/EMI and the band was  strong, so much so that often the band were  chauffeured to their gigs personally by Ronnie  in his Rolls Royce!

But alas, it wasn't to last for long. After awhile  the interest faded.....

Nobody can remember as to what reason this  was, but it is strongly believed there was two  reasons. One because of the 'very strong'  content of some of the band's lyrics and two  because the band were managed by two ex-  boxers and that they were making  unacceptable demands behind the scenes to  the record label unbeknown to the band!

All songs were written by all the band with  each member contributing their piece with the  exception of Old Time Movie Star which was  written by Paul Meuse (frontman from the  band Lucy) a band that Collen and Webb  were  in just prior to the formation of the  'Original'  Dumb Blondes and a song that  Lucy would perform in their set.
